Upgrade Your Adventures: Beginner’s Guide to Back Carrying
Summer is coming, time to get out and about!
Do you have a little one who wants to join in on your summer adventures — but your arms and back need a break?
Maybe you've enjoyed carrying your young baby on your front but they want to be able to look around a bit more?
Want to master a hands-free back carry, but not sure how to do so safely?
If any of this sounds like you — this workshop is exactly what you need!
Join us for a friendly, hands-on 1-hour group workshop where you’ll learn to confidently carry your baby or toddler in a buckle carrier on your back.
We’ll cover:
-
Safe and comfortable techniques — including how to get baby on and off your back on your own
-
Things to consider when back-carrying — including safety checks and positioning
-
Troubleshooting tips — so you can feel empowered to get the carry just right
Why back-carry? Back carrying a toddler or young child in a baby carrier comes with a range of practical and comfort benefits for both you and your little one. It evenly distributes your child’s weight across your back and hips, reducing strain on your shoulders and making it easier to carry heavier children for longer periods — perfect for day trips, walks, or getting things done around the house. Back carries also give your child a better view of the world around them while keeping them safe, secure, and close to you. For parents, it frees up your hands entirely, giving you more mobility and balance — ideal for chasing after older siblings or handling everyday tasks. Plus, it’s a fantastic way to stay connected with your child while encouraging their sense of independence and curiosity.
Please note it is recommended that babies are at least 6 months old and have good trunk control to be safely carried in a buckle carrier on your back. If your baby is younger than this please consider a one-to-one woven wrap back carrying session instead.
What’s included:
-
Use of our baby-carriers and all resources during the session
-
A 10% off voucher (minimum spend applies) to use in-store as a thank you for attending
-
Tea and coffee provided
-
Small children and babies are very welcome (let us know their ages so we can provide age-appropriate toys)
- A physical handout covering topics discussed during the session to take away
- After session one to one support online with our in-house professional baby-wearing consultant
If you already own a baby-carrier suitable for using on your back, feel free to bring it along to practice with!
Cost: £12 per adult or £22 to include a month's hire (2 weeks free)
Your workshop will be led by Kim, our fully qualified and insured babywearing consultant, with over 10 years of experience supporting hundreds of families to carry their babies comfortably and safely. She also runs Bronwyn’s Baby including our in-house dedicated sling library.
Our sling library allows you to borrow a carrier for just £5 per week. When booking this workshop, if you chose to include a month's hire with your workshop ticket you are saving £10 in hire fees, allowing you plenty of time to practice the skills we cover, in the comfort of your own home.
If you feel a one-to-one consultation would suit you better than a group environment, get in touch — we’re happy to arrange that for you during store opening hours.
Group size: Minimum 4 adults, maximum 8 adults
